I absolutely love your videos. You are an amazing teacher. I had taken lessons for four years starting in 2016.Vivid hit and with the shut down I stopped playing. Fast forward to three weeks ago, I discovered your video as and as of today, I am done with book one and on page 16 in book two. I am 68 years old l love the violin and am so thankful for your videos to get me back on track. Just need more confidence in my bowing.

Thanks very much! I'll keep your chin rest in mind. Right now I'm playing bareback and love it. It's basically a baroque violin less gut strings, a swooshing neck and a longer fingerboard. Hint, those of you who possibly own an old black hard Rod rubber chinrest, please hold on to it. These were probably made around 1850 and resembled a giant black kidney bean. Don't ever let them talk you out of them because they are valuable antiques and the material is tougher than most plastic modern chinwrests. Pluss they may improve tone. They were lashed on to the ebony tailpiece some way which I have forgotten. All I remember is it was red oxgut that held it on.

My great grandfathers violin had a narrow oval black hard rubber chin rest very similar to the one shown. This is very interesting to me.

Fantastic lesson - thank you. Your teaching has enabled me able to learn the violin much quicker than ever imagined. I took your advice to take it slowly and it has made such a difference to how quick I have been able to improve my intonation, playing and music reading. I don’t always get it right, but I get it right more often than not. I know I’ve many years of practice before I get to even an intermediate level, but with your help I’m really enjoying the journey. Best teacher on the net. Just found your videos and subscribed. You explain everything so clearly and there are so many things I’ve had difficulty with as an adult beginner, however, they are now much clearer. Have wasted so many hours trying to find information on things I’ve had difficulty with, yet you were able to explain all of them in your easy to understand videos. Big, big, thanks as I’m now enjoying learning the violin and have learned more in one day with your videos, that took me months to learn by other methods or teachers.
